Hello folks!
In this age, you can find a Bible translation that will back up anything you want to believe. There are hundreds of translations! But what we need is a final authority - the truth.
Here is a simple way to determine which Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God. John 16:13,14 says that the Spirit will glorify Christ, the Son. So whichever Bible most glorifies Christ will be the “Holy” Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit. I’ll list a few verses at the end for you to compare.
Here is another clue. There are two Greek texts from which all English New Testaments are translated. The “textus receptus”, or majority text, is the old original Greek text which was compiled from the majority of the ancient manuscripts. Only the King James version is translated exclusively from this text. A modern text was developed some 200 years ago to “improve” the original, and it uses several very ancient manuscripts which deviate from the majority of manuscripts. All new English Bibles use this new text to some extent. So, rather than read all the new bibles, you can choose one of them and compare it with the King James Version.
Another problem is that many of the modern bibles are not translated word for word. The translators wrote down what they thought the passage meant. How much do you trust those translators? Examples of this kind of bible are the NIV and the Living Bible.
Most people think that all bibles say the same thing. Compare the list below and see.
Most scholars teach that no version is holy, meaning perfect and without error. But what does God say about His word?
Proverbs 30:5,6 says, “Every word of God is pure.”
II Tim 3:15-17 says,“…thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation…”
I Peter 1:23-25 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.”
Do you think that God would allow His word to be corrupted and lost when we depend on it exclusively to get saved from hell and to spiritually grow?
Matthew 5:18 and Luke 16:17 show that even the smallest grammatical details of God’s word will be preserved and fulfilled.
Psalms 12:6,7 says, “The words of the Lord are pure words: ….Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
Do you think God is capable of preserving His word perfectly and without error as He promised? Then let’s find out which bible is the one He has inspired and preserved. Which one most glorifies Christ? Which one has no errors? Let’s read and compare.
| Reference | King James Version | New Bibles |
| Mark 1:2 | “in the prophets” | “in Isaiah the prophet” The quote is not in Isaiah. |
| Luke 2:33 | “Joseph” | “his father” Joseph was not His father. |
| Mat 5:22 | angry.. “without a cause” |
omitted, thereby condemning Jesus for being angry in Mark 3:5 |
| Luke 23:42 | "he said unto Jesus, ‘Lord..’” | “he said, ‘Jesus…’” |
| Eph 3:9 | created ..“by Jesus Christ” | omitted |
| Col 1:14 | redemption “through his blood” | omitted |
| Heb 1:3 | “by himself” purged our sins | omitted |
| I John 5:7-8 | “three are one” | vs. 7 is omitted |
| II Tim 2:15 | “rightly dividing the word” | “rightly handling the word” |
| Mark 10:24 | “how hard is it for them who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom..” | “for them who trust in riches” is omitted, making salvation by works. |
| John 3:36 | “believeth” | “obey” (quite a difference!) |
| John 6:47 | “believeth on me” | “on me” is omitted |
| Mark 9:42 | “that believe in me” | “in me” is omitted |
| Gal 4:7 | “an heir of God through Christ” | “through Christ” is omitted |
There are extensive lists of differences available, but these verses will give you the idea. I have nothing against reading any of the bibles, but it’s wonderful to know which one of them is the HOLY BIBLE, inspired and preserved by God, without error and pure, the final authority!
